Different types of vegetation are habitats to different animals. Natural forests are habitats to elephants, buffaloes, gorillas and a variety of birds and insects.
The Savannah grasslands are hosts to a large variety of herbivores such as antelopes, wildebeests, zebras and giraffes. The presence of the herbivores attracts carnivores like lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas which prey on the herbivores for food. A variety of plants and animals are also found in the savannah grasslands.
The savannah woodlands host the giraffes, buffaloes, impala and white rhino. Carnivores are attracted to these regions as they provide them with shelter and cover for staging ambushes while hunting.
The semidesert and desert vegetation support hardy animals that can withstand scarcity of water such as hartebeest, gerenuk and Grant's gazelle.
