-Gold was obtained from inland kingdom and exchjange with coins.
-City states were easy to reach from Asia by ship because of the favorable wind and ocean currents within indian ocean.
-There was availability of willing merchants to take part in trade who mainly came from peninsula and India.
-Existence of a common language used for communication during trading activities.The language was Swahili language.
