The procedure of milking is as follows:

The dairy cattle are brought close to the milking parlour some minutes before milking process takes place. This is to enhance good milking mood in them.

The necessary materials required for milking such as;milking salve, feeds and a stool are brought in the milking parlour.A rope is also important in handling of hostile animals.

The dairy Cattle are permitted to the milking stall one at a time.

The animal is restrained in the milking stall.

The feed is measured effectively in the correct quantity and placed in the feed trough.

The udder is properly washed by use of warm water to stimulate milk production and for clean milk production. It is dried by use of a clean cloth.

By help of a strip cup, mastitis is tested on each teat. This is to check the health condition of the animal.

Milking is done either by use of milking machine or by carefully placing the teat cups on the teats or manually by gently squeezing the teats.

Complete milking is done to prevent incidences of mastitis.

When milking process is over, the animal is set free.

The milk is carefully sieved to remove any foreign materials,it is then weighed and recorded.
