This refers to the proportion of students who got an item right. It is determined by dividing the number of learners who got the item right by the total number of learners who attempted the item.
Qs If in a test of 100 learners, 20 learners get an item correct, find item difficulty index?
Index of difficulty (P) = No of learners who got item right
Total no of learners who attempted the item
= 20 =0.2

This is the measure of the extent to which a test discriminates or differentiates between the superior and inferior students.
