a. Network technology.

Network technologies are digital telecommunication networks which allows computing devices to share resources using either cabled media or wireless media under a set of rules known as transmission control protocols.
Network technologies enable a number of applications such as access to the World Wide Web, digital video and audio, shared use of storage servers, printers, software, use of email and instant messaging. Sharing of files, data and other types of information over a network has been made possible through the following technologies:
i. Wired technologies such as optical fiber, coaxial cable and twisted pair cable.
ii. Wireless technologies such as terrestrial microwave, communication satellites, Wi-Fi, modems, and free space optical communication.
iii. Exotic technologies which involves a set of protocols and technology that is tolerant to large delays and errors caused by great distances between two planents.
The above mentioned technologies can therefore be used to establish local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and personal area networks depending on the suitability and cost of the network technology.

b. Client technologies.

This is an application running the computer system that user uses to interact, request and view webpages from the server. Thus a client is a computer or a program that relies on sending a request to another computer program located in another computer. For example, web browsers are clients that connects the web-server and retrieves webpages for display. E-mail clients retrieve e-mails from mail servers.
On the other hand, online chat uses a variety of clients, which vary depending on the chat protocol being used. Thus the term “client” may also be used to computers and devices that run the client software or users that use the client software.

c. Server technology.

This a computer program that provides services to other computer programs in the same or other computers. The computer that a server program runs is also frequently called a server. The machines may be dedicated server or used for other purposes as well. Examples of servers include:
a. Proxy server. It is a software that acts as an intermediary between an end point device.
b. Virtual server. A program running on a shared server that is configured in such a way that it seems to each user that they have complete control of a server.
c. File server. Is a computer responsible for the control, storage and management of data files so that other computers on the same network can access them.

d. Operating system technology.

An operating system is system software that manages computer hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs to run. An operating system can either be mobile or embedded.
1. A mobile operating system allows smartphones, tablets, personal computers and other mobile devices to run applications and programs. Common smartphone operating systems include: android, iOS and window phone OS. These operating systems are developed specifically for portable devices and thus designed around touch screen input. Common personal computer operating systems include Windows OS, Mac OS, and Linux OS.

2. An embedded operating system is specialized for use in the computers built into larger systems, such as cars, traffic lights, digital televisions, ATMs, airplane controls, point of sale terminals, digital cameras, GPS navigation systems, elevators, digital media receivers and smart meters.
