Class A address.
• The first bit of the first octet is always set to 0. It ranges from
00000001 – 01111111
1 – 127
• It is reserved for very large networks.

Class B address
• It has the first two bits in the first octet set to 10, i.e.
10000000 – 10111111
128 - 191
• It is used for medium networks

Class C address
• The first octet of class C IP address has the first three bits set to 110, i.e.
11000000 – 11011111
192 – 223
• It is used for small networks.

Class D address
• The first four bits of the first octet in class D IP address are set to 1110, i.e.
11100000 – 11101111
224 – 239
• It is reserved for multicasting

Class E address
• The first four bits of the first octet in class E IP addresses are set to 1111, i.e.
11110000 – 11111111
240 – 247
• This IP class is reserved for experimental and study purposes
