Human Relations Approach

This theory was developed by Mary Perker Follett. She
observed that the central problem of the organization
is to maintain a dynamic and harmonious human
relationship.
She developed fundamental principles that should be
applied by the management;
- There should be coordination by direct
contact with the people responsible.
- Coordination in early stages are very
important to set workers on motion.
- Coordination should be seen as a way in
which we get new ideas from our staff.
- Coordination should be viewed as a
continuing process.
She commanded that one cannot learn from
experience unless he/she observes experience,
records experience and relates the experience to the
total situation.
In her view, the manager should not try to adjust to the
situation nor to the behavior of the worker but should
be in agreement with what is relevant for the
organization.
