1. Nomadic herding- rearing of animals.It is carried out in the arid and semi arid regions.These people are always on the move and are always looking for pasture and water for their animals.
2. Livestock ranching- rearing of animals. Farmers live a settled life unlike nomadic herding.Animals are reared for meat and wool mainly, hence only based on commercial purposes. Practiced on large-scale farms.
3. Shifting cultivation- mostly adopted in the tropics.Land is obtained by clearing forest, then land is cultivated for a few years, then farmers move to another piece of land.
4. Subsistence agriculture- Farmer lives on a small piece of land and produces enough to support his/her family.It is very labor intensive.
5.Industrialized agriculture- mainly for commercial purposes. It uses highly industrialized techniques eg use of machines that can work more faster and harder.
