(i) Relevance: Data in any stage of processing cycle must be of significance importance to the problem at hand and to the decision maker.

(ii) Complete: Partial data is often worst than no data and therefore data should always be inclusive of all of the important facts in any stage of data processing cycle.

(iii) Accuracy: Data should be error free because erroneous data results in wrong output which may lead to disastrous decisions.

(iv) Timeliness: Timely data should be available when needed because decisions are often based upon the latest data available.
