Summer solstice occurs when the sun is overhead either the tropics of Capricorn and cancer between 20th-22nd June and 20th-23rd December,this happens when the earth is most inclined to the sun at about 23.44°. When the northern hemisphere experience summer solstice the opposite southern hemisphere will experience winter solstice and when the southern hemisphere experience summer solstice then the opposite northern hemisphere will experience winter solstice.
