The duties of the auditor general are as follows;

Being accountable and making edits on all public entities and organs such as auditing all the funds and authorities of national and county governments.

Clearly auditing and making a report on the accounts of all courts.

Auditing accounts of political parties that operate by use of public funds.

Handling matters pertaining public debt,financial dealings and secretive national security organs

Being responsible on ensuring proper usage of public funds by recording all expenses incurred to ensure funds are used wisely.

Analysing reviews and risk assessments during planning to effectively understand budget of audit client.

Reporting audit results to the parliament on timely basis,clearly and in an well organized manner.
