Advantages of induction motors
a)They do not have brushes and commutators hence they are cheaper in cost.
b)They do not have commutators, brushes and slip rings hence they are maintenance free.
c)They are stronger and can operate at any industrial environment.
d)They do not require starting methods because they have self starting torque.

Disadvantages of induction motors.
a)It's difficult to control their speed.
b)There is reduction in efficiency because they operate at worst lagging power factor.
c)They draw high inrush currents hence causing large voltage dip during the starting of the machine.
d)They have poor starting torque hence cannot be used in industries requiring high starting torque.
