Add magnesium oxide to dilute hydrochloric acid till excess. Filter off excess magnesium oxide to obtain magnesium chloride as filtrate. Add sodium carbonate to the filtrate to obtain magnesium carbonate as a solid and sodium chloride solution. Filter to obtainable magnesium carbonate as residue.
