• Ruminants. These are animals that have a compound stomach. They are also called poly gastric, having four compartments stomachs.
II. Classifications according to the nature of diet.
• Omnivores. These are animals that eats both plants and animal tissues and rely on both microbial and endogenous digestive enzymes.
• Herbivores. These are animals that rely on plants as source of food, and utilizing microbial enzymes to assist digestion.
• Carnivores. These are animals that rely on animal tissue as a source of food their digestion is enzymatic.
