1. Africans lost their land to white settlers

2. Communities such as Agikuyu, Nandi and Maasai lost their land from the European farming and construction of the railway

3. Africans were pushed to reserves which were characterized by overcrowding, overstocking and soil erosion

4. The situation in the reserves areas forced many African to look for alternative settlements and employment in urban
areas.

5. It disrupted traditional structures i.e communal could no longer be carried out better land and pasture

6. Led to introduction of Kipande system

7. Led to imposition of taxes on Africans

8. Indians were denied access to white highlands compelling them to establish residence and business in the urban areas

9. Land issues sparked resentment among the nationalist thus formation of political associations
