(i) Rigid rules and regulations dominate the forces for example,gender-based discrimination.

(ii) The forces have been accused on several occasions of brutality on civilians whenever they are called upon to restore peace.

(iii) Location of the Moi Airbase in Eastleigh posses a danger to flying aircraft since the areas is characterized by tall buildings.

(iv) Sea crimes like piracy and militia attacks present a security challenge.

(v) Invasion of of Kenya's territorial waters by foreign fishermen and unauthorized vessels is also a security threat.

(vi) Corruption cases have been reported especially during the recruitment of new members into the forces,promotions and procurement of military supplies.

(vii) Lack of opportunities to further education standards has resulted to low morale among the military officers.

(viii) Tough economic times affect supply of military equipment.
