(i) It prepares and implements programmes for the continuing education and training of judges and judicial officers.

(ii) It receives and investigates complaints against judicial officers.

(iii) It advises the national government on improving the efficiency of the administration of justice.

(iv) It disciplines or removes judicial officers from office in accordance to the Acts of parliament.

(v) It appoints judicial officers like the magistrates, registrars and other staff in the judiciary.

(vi) It recommends the appointment of judges to the president.

(vii) It reviews and makes recommendations on the conditions of the service of judges and judicial officers, apart from their remuneration.

(viii) Promotes efficient,effective and transparent administration of justice.

(ix) Promotes and facilitates the independence of the judiciary.
