Give reasons why Jesus accepted to be baptized by John the Baptist.

Answers

James
He wanted His baptism to usher Him to His high
priesthood, much like the
ceremony which prepared Old
Testament priests for their ministry. It can be inferred that
Jesus wanted to identify Himself
with the Gentiles, who embraced Judaism as
proselytes through baptism.
Jesus’ baptism symbolized His recognition of John’s spiritual authority,
confirmation of John as a hallowed
prophet of God and the genuine
forerunner of His own ministry. Also,
the Lord accepted to be baptized for atonement of the sins of mankind, which along with His death on the cross became part
of His redemptive
work. Ultimately, it is scriptural to conclude that He did this as a sign of obedience to His followers.
