Proteins are a large number of amino acids combined by a bond known as peptides.
Amino acid are the smallest form of protein that can be absorbed through the small intestines to the various parts of the body.
Digestion is breaking down of the proteins into amino acids that are absorbable through the small intestines into the body.
This digestion takes place in the mouth, stomach and intestines.
Mouth.
Chewing in the mouth is part of the digestion (breaking down) of the proteins.
The stomach.
The stomach secretes an enzyme know as pespsin that breaks the bonds(peptides) that hold the proteins together into many peptides known as polypeptides.
Small Intestines.
The pancreas releases the enzyme trypsin into the small intestines to break the polypeptide further into amino acids that can be ingested through the intestines wall.
