Large Memory – Required to accommodate a good number of user programs along with the operating system.
Memory Protection- To prevent a job in one memory partition from changing information or instructions of a job in another memory partition.
Job status preservation- preserves the job’s complete status information when the central processing unit is taken away from it and restores this information back, before the central processing unit is given back to it again.
Proper job mix- to effectively overlap the operations of the central processing unit and Input/output devices.
Central processing unit scheduling – To decide which of the ready jobs should be allocated the cetral processing unit for execution.
