Most of the laws are said to have common sources and are said to have common origin. Some of the sources of industrial and labour law are as follows.

1. Customary Laws
These are the laws that were traditionally used during the batter trade and during the ancient Trans Saharan Trade. These laws are used since they have the rules and procedures that are still relevant to the present trade and industrial process.

2. The States Constitutions
These are the documented rules and responsibilities which are given to industries and institutions to govern their way of doing things by the states. They are used to determine what should be done and how it should be done and by who. These rule are used to formulate the laws which can be used to govern the industrial procedures.
