The system comprises of eight planets namely,Mercury,Venus,Earth,Mars,Jupiter,Saturn,Uranus and Neptune. They all revolve around the sun in an anti-clockwise direction along their orbits except Venus and Uranus which revolve in a clockwise direction.Their orbits are elliptical(egg-shaped).The planets are at different distances from the sun and thus take different lengths of time to cover the distance around the sun.
