How does the gradient of the shore influence wave deposition?

Describe how the gradient of the shore influences wave deposition.

Maurice
A shore with a gentle gradient reduces the velocity/speed of the flow of the backwash causing the waves to deposit the load on the shore. Where the shore is steep, the velocity of flow of the backwash will cause the materials to be moved from the shore back into the sea. There will be little or no deposition.
