Answers

John
Now:

mary is 5x years;

Daughter is x years

15 years from now:

Mary will be 5x + 15

daughter will be x + 15

$\frac{1}{2}$(5x + 15) = x + 15

5x + 15 = 2(x + 15)

5x + 15 = 2x + 30

3x = 15;

x = 5

Their present ages are:

Mary: 5 x 5 = 25 years

Daughter: = 5 years.
