Equate corresponding sides

3 - 2x = 7x - 4y

9x - 4y = 3 ...................(i)

2y + x = 4 - x

2x + 2y = 4 ................(ii)

Multiply eqn. (ii) by 2.

9x - 4y = 3

4x + 4y = 8 - (add eqns)

13x = 11;

x = $\frac{11}{13}$

Substitute x = $\frac{11}{13}$ in

9x + 4y = 3 to get

$\frac{99}{13}$ + 4y = 3;

4y = 3 - $\frac{99}{33}$ = -$\frac{60}{13}$

y = - $\frac{15}{13}$
