a)Topography advantages
-Undulating land can be irrigated without any problem unlike surface irrigation
-No land is lost to ditches, buds etc

b)Micro-climate aspects
-Increases the relative humidity and lowers the temperature for some crops thus positively improving the micro climate.
-Water absorbs oxygen from air and transfers it to the root zone and this improve air availability.

c)Soil advantages
-Suitable for light soils unlike surface irrigation
-Design takes into account the infiltration rate of the soil thus choosing smaller or larger nozzles
Better in handling saline soils when compared to surface irrigation methods because it can be applied more frequently.

d)Finance aspects
-Independence of the system such as having a borehole or water pond gives financial independence when compared to surface systems that depend on public water.
-The pumps, pipes and sprinklers are tangible assets that can be used to obtain a loan. F) Labour aspects
-Fertigation (application of fertilizer through the irrigation water) is possible and this saves on labor.
-Easy to automate compared to other systems.
-Maintenance labor is low compared to surface irrigation.

e)Health aspects
-Because of the absence of podding and runoff in properly design sprinkler system there is less standing water compared to surface systems and therefore less incidents of Bilharzia and malaria.
