-They can be classified as line and point systems depending on whether the water is discharge along the distribution lines through small poles (weep) or through a single emitter at a point such as a plant.
-There classification such as surface and subsurface classification
-There is regular irrigation that applies at constant rate until the soil is saturated and there is also what is referred to as pulse systems because the water is applied intermittently.
-The bubble system is one where the water flows in a continuous stream from holes along the supply line.
