-have only one of carpel or stamen i.e. either male or female
3.Carpelate
- also called pistilate
- contains only carpels hence a female flower
4.Staminate
also called male flower
contains only stamens
5.Dioecious plants
- have pistilate and staminate flowers on different plants e.g. pawpaw
6.Monoecius plants
- have pistilate and staminate on one plant
- however, pistilate and staminate occur at different plants e.g. maize
7.Complete flower
- Has all four parts i.e. Calyx, corolla, androecium and gynoecium
8.Incomplete flower
- does not have all four parts
- at least one is missing
