(a) Value of goods sold is

sh 240 000

Commission rate

= $\frac{Commission}{Value of goods}$ x 100%

= $\frac{4 000}{240 000}$ x 100 = 1$\frac{2}{3}$%

(b) Value of goods sold after

giving out the discount was

$\frac{98}{100}$ x 360 000 = sh 352 800

Amount of commission

received was

$\frac{1\frac{2}{3}}{100}$ x 352 800 = sh 5 880
