(i) Saltation: sand particles are lifted from the ground by eddy action. They are moved along with wind currents.

(ii) Surface creep: both heavy and light stones are dragged along the ground by wind currents.

(iii) Suspension: this is when very fine particles and light materials are picked up by the wind and carried within the wind. Some of these materials can be lifted to a great height in the atmosphere and travel for a very long distance before being deposited.
