When a wet flower is dipped in a gas jar full of sulphur iv oxide, the gas absorbs moisture from the flower to form sulphurous acid (H2SO3).The acid then picks the oxygen atom from the dye and is oxidized to form Sulphuric acid and the dye reduced hence becoming colourless.
SO2 + H2O = H2SO3
H2SO3 + Dye[O] = H2SO4 + Colourless substance
