These are cattle raised for meat production .The meat of adult cattle is known as beef. Beef cattle are of species Bos taurus.
DAIRY CATTLE
These are cattle cow bred for the ability to produce large quantities of milk, from which dairy products are made. Dairy cows are of species Bos taurus

These breeds have the following differential characteristics
Dairy cattle Beef cattle
1 Their bodies are wedge to triangular shaped. Their bodies are blocky in appearance
2 Their lean bodies carry little flesh Their lean body carry much flesh
3. They have slow growth rate They grow fast.
4 They are less tolerant to elevated temperatures They are most tolerant to elevated temperatures
5 They are good producers of milk with well-developed udder and prominent milk veins They are efficient converters of food into meat and fat.
6 They have large stomach capacity that enables animals to feed heavily high milk production.
They are good foragers, that is, selective grazing is minimal
