African Traditional Religion is referred to the diverse beliefs that are included in various ethnic regions in Africa.The religion is characterized mainly by:
1.Supreme Being
The African societies and ethnic communities believed in a supreme being who had different names for different communities.The people worshiped this God through singing,offering sacrifices,dancing,dedications as well as invoking blessings.

2.Belief in Mystical Powers
The religion believes in spiritual forces/powers,magic and also charms.This powers were believed to be used for good or bad.

3.Belief in spirits and divinities.
The African communities belief in spirits which are believed to change to any form.They acted as a link between the humans and God in the communities.They also belief in many divinities

4.Ancestors
The community always performed ceremonies and rituals as a way to communicate with their ancestors.They also sacrificed to appease them.

5.Sacrifice
African religion was always accompanied by sacrifice offerings in the communities
