The interior angle of a regular polygon exceeds the exterior by 144o. Find the
(a) number of sides
(b) sum of interior angles

Answers

John
(a) Let the exterior angle be x.

Interior = x + 144o

x + x + 144o = 180o

2x = 36o; X = 18

Number of sides is

$\frac{360}{18}$ = 20 sides

(b) Sum of interior angle is

(2n - 4)90 = (2 x 20 - 4)90

= (40 - 4)90 = 36 x 90
