(ii) Geological processes determine distribution, for example, folding and vulcanicity.

(iii) Evaporation of water from lakes and ponds found in arid and semi-arid regions may enhance crystallization of salt leading to formation of potash and gypsum.

(iv) As a result of igneous activity the minerals in molten form may solidify in cracks.

(v) Availability of the necessary materials to make the mineral, for example deposits of vegetation and animal matter are necessary for the formation of coal.

(vi) Presence of high pressure and temperature conditions to compact the raw materials and heat to form minerals.

(vii) Time during which the materials have been exposed to greater heat and pressure to form minerals.
