-Leads to low growth rate of the animal.in such a case, the maturity of the animal takes a longer time.-Causes difficulty in introduction of more productive livestock breeds to diseases endemic regions. This make production very difficult especially when this introduction are done. Eventually bring up difficulty especially in rearing of some breeds.
-Death of the animal is an additional loss incurred by the farmer because of the disease like Nagana. The farmer usually invest much money in their farming especially in the purchase of animals. The diseases has been a great threat to farmers.

-Attack leads to the reduction in the productive potential of the animals and subsequently leads to the reduction in the supply of animal product like milk, beef, mutton etc. likewise the low output causes raise in the purchase of this product which are limited.
-The disease also exposes the animal to other disease due to reduction on the immunity. When the immunity of the animal is weakened by a disease, the animal becomes more susceptible to the attack of the other diseases.
-Raise in the cost of animal related products like milk, meat, pork e.t.c, in the market. This is due to the high cost of production of such products by the farmer.
-Impact on human health due to frequent use of the control mechanisms like drugs put human life at risk of taking some contaminating products ie; meat contaminated with acaricides and anthelmintics. The affect the well-being of man.
-Intestinal flagellates suck nutrients and blood from the animal causing Anaemia. In the intestine, the microorganisms suck blood depriving the animals of nutrients that they need for growth.
-Competition for nutrients by the host especially in the case of nematodes.The nematode suck nutrients consumed by the animal and eventually depriving them of necessary nutrients for the development of body. -The products produced are of low quality.
-The disease causes reduction in reproduction. For instance, the effect of Nagana will be make the animal fail to conceive at the right time. This makes them not reproduce as fast as needed and hence high cost of management.
