Describe any five best methods of training and facilitation. What are their advantages and disadvantages? For example Field visits, use of models, presentations, mentorship, demonstration

1. Demonstration
Demonstration can be defined as a skilled performance of a task or technique showing precisely how it should be done on the job. It is kind of training based on common sense where by it is expected that through observation, one is able to see how something is done, learn how it is done and then be able to do it in the same way and produce positive results in the end. (Kalpana R)

Advantages
It gives hand on experience since you are able to physically see how things are done as opposed to theoretical learning and it also provides opportunity for question and answers.
Disadvantage
It is not effective if an organization is targeting to train a larger number of its employees to undergo the training.
2. Presentation
It is a direct method of instruction that involves a verbal presentation of information by an instructor to a large audience. The instructor organizes the material and gives it to a group of trainees in the form of talk. (Kalpana R.)
Advantages
This method motivates and creates interest among the trainees especially where a profession trainer from outside is engaged. They are able to listen and at the same time ask questions for clarification and understanding. It also involves certification at the end of the training which is a key incentive to trainees.

Disadvantage
It requires funding since it will require a professional trainer to be engaged. Where the organization is using its own senior management to train the employees, it is likely to produce less motivation and interest among the trainees.
3. Field Trips
This involves taking the employees away from work place to a different place for the purpose of learning. They can be taken to a different organization for bench marking where they are able to learn how things are done there differently from their own organization.
Advantages
Employees are widely exposed to different types of job techniques and work environment. Field trips also works as an incentive because it makes employees always look forward to learning outside their organization and be able to create connections and networking with employees from other organizations or corporates.
Disadvantages
Field trips require resources especially funding because it involves transportation of employees to the field where they are supposed to go and learn and also be brought back. It also involves employees’ stipend/ per diem for the period they will be a way so that they can be able to cater for their accommodation, meals among other things.
4. Use of Model
It is defined as a method of human interaction that involves realistic behavior in imaginary situation. This method involves creation of realistic situation in which the participants assumes and plays the role of a specific personality in the situation. This method involves action, during and practice. The main intention in this method is the development of inter¬personal relations and thereby promotes better inter-personal interaction and attitudinal changes. (Kalpana R.), (Robert B. 2016)
Advantages
This method develops inter¬personal relations and thereby promotes better inter-personal interaction and attitudinal changes. (Kalpana R). Also since it involves a person practically applying the skills is a powerful way of learning because whatever a person learns sticks with him or her.
Disadvantages
It might be overwhelming since the trainee will be technically performing two roles. He or she has to ensure that his or her own work is rolling and also to ensure that the position he or she is currently being trained on things are equally rolling.
5. Mentorship
This is where one is assigned a mentor to take him or her through the training. The trainer is supposed to take the trainee through some practical training in whatever he or she is supposed to learn. This type of training provides the trainee with firsthand experience and he or she is able to consult the mentor any time he or she feels stuck at some point. The mentor is always there to guide the trainee. (Kadian Boumeyer )
Advantages
Provide the trainee with an experienced coach to oversee his or her learning experience.
Disadvantage
This kind of training only applies to high ranking employees that have been moved up through the ranks.
