Discuss five factors to consider when selecting training equipment for your workshops

Targeted participants
It is important that the trainer know the participants he or she will be training. He needs to consider people living with disabilities like the deaf and the blind when selecting equipment for training. The chosen equipment should be able to cater for such needs. Same applies to the level of literacy of the trainees which also need to be taken care of. For instance, if training literate participants or groups, then using English language and reading materials may be practical. However, when dealing with illiterate groups, then the trainer will need to use materials such as descriptive images or descriptive pictorial to illustrate or pass information or still use verbal means to pass information and ideas.
No of participants
Number of participants also will determine the equipment to be used. Where the training involves larger group, then projection using projectors and big screens with loudspeakers would be necessary for the purpose of audibility and visibility to the trainees. Where there are no facilities such as projectors, then splitting the trainees into smaller manageable groups can also work well.
Availability/affordability of training equipment
The equipment to be used should also be easily available or affordable so that the organization should not have to undergo unexpected expenditure. If the number of trainees is large and there are no projectors and screens, the trainer can opt to split the group into small manageable units and have training sessions with each of those small groups.
Usability
The equipment being used for training should be easy to use in by trainer and also conducive for the trainees. Complicated equipment always produces a hitch in the middle of training and it is likely to hinder the effectiveness of the training.
Location of training
Some training might take place in a remote area where there is no power and WIFI connectivity. In such cases, equipment such as projector and screens might not be useful. The trainer will therefore be forced to use another alternative for training. This therefore implies that when choosing equipment for training, the trainer need to research about the area or location in which the training is going to take place and be aware of the resources available ahead of the training for better preparation.
