(i) Moses was looking after the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, a priest in Midian.

(ii) The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a burning bush on Mt Sinai.

(iii) There was fire but the bush was not being consumed.

(iv) Moses became curious and moved closer to see what was happening.

(v) When the Lord saw him coming closer, He called out to Moses by his name.

(vi) When Moses answered, God commanded him not to come near further.

(vii) Gold told him to remove his shoes because he was standing on holy ground.

(viii) God revealed Himself as the God of Moses' ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

(ix) Moses was filled with fear and hid his face from God.

(x) God told him that He had heard the cries of his people in Egypt and had come down to save them from slavery through Moses.

(xi) Moses initially reluctant to go but God assured him of His protection.

(xii) God revealed His name to Moses as, "I am who I am" (Yahweh).

(xiii) God foretold the hardness of Pharaoh to release the Hebrews from Egypt unless forced by a mighty hand.

(xiv) God promised to give favour to the Hebrews who would obtain from the Egyptians jewellery, silver, gold and clothing.
