(i) He was not sure whether the Hebrews would accept him as their leader after having rejected him earlier.

(ii) He was afraid to face Pharaoh who wanted to kill him.

(iii) He had killed an Egyptian.

(iv) He was a stammerer/ not fluent in speech.

(v) He lacked adequate knowledge on the identity of the God who was calling Him. ("Who was this God who was sending him.")

(vi) He may have been worried about the family he had established in Midian.

(vii) He lacked self-confidence and underrated his ability to lead.
