i) Fostering national unity/ national and patrioytism - ECDE achieves this through offering a variety of subjects such as social studies, music and movement which enables pupils learn about the people of Kenya.

ii) Promoting positive attitudes towards good health and environmental protection. The curriculum encompasses, environmental activities which teach pupils on not only about limited resources but also the need to conserve the natural environment.

iii) Promoting international consciousness and fostering positive attitudes towards other nations. The social subject not only teachers pupils about neighbours within but also without.

iv) Promoting individual development and self-fulfillment. The curriculum emphasizes on child-centred approach rater than teacher centred, this gives an opportunity for exploitation of individual abilities and talents.

v) Promoting socio, economic, technological and industrial needs for national development.
