(i) Parts of the lake shores are swampy or marshy which makes the landing of the catch difficult.

(ii) Insecurity this is, theft of fish and fishing equipment discourages the fishermen.

(iii) Presence of water hyacinth entangles and tears the fishing nets thus hindering movement of fishing boats.

(iv) The occurrence of strong wind leads to high waves causing accidental drowning or destruction of fishing vessels and nets.

(v) Most fishermen have poor fishing equipment which leads to a low catch.

(vi) Fishermen lack appropriate storage or preservation facilities.
