1. The income of taxable person is assessed on another person
- Employment income of wife at arm‘s length is deemed husbands income.
- Income of a deceased person after death is taxed on the executor or administrator of the dead estate is held responsible for payment of the tax.
- Wife‘s self-employment income is deemed to be the husbands e.g. dividend and interest is assessed on the husband

2. A married woman might be called upon to bear tax burden
There are some instances when a married woman can be held responsible to pay for her own tax;
- When the husband is untraceable or has gone underground.
- When the husband is dead.
- When the husband is of unsound mind.
- When the wife is the main contributor of tax.
- When the wife has opted to be held responsible for her own tax i.e from the year 2000
