A notice of assessment is a standard form issued by the commissioner of domestic taxes and contains the following information amongst others.
a) A notice to the tax payer stating that he has been assessed under the income tax Act.
b) Information to the taxpayer or person assessed stating he has a right to object where he does not agree with the assessment originating from the commissioner.
c) The amount of relief available especially for individuals
d) The amount of taxes paid at source
e) Any penalties and interest where applicable as per the income tax Act
f) Any amount of tax payable and due dates and where taxes have been overpaid a tax credit shall be reflected
