The Scientific school of thought was introduced by Fredrick Taylor. He brought the aspect of scientific analysis of work. Managers should study the work scientifically and determine one best way of performing it. He talked about scientific selection of workers. Taylor was a strong advocate of matching the physical threat of a worker, the dimensions of the task performed. He is financial incentive based on piece rate system. Taylor fell that worker should be motivated to improve production and efficiency through financial
incentive based on piece rate system unlike hourly rate. Also mentioned training and development of workers top improve their efficiency.
There are advantages of the scientific school of thought which includes the following;
a).Incentive- workers' performance increased greatly due to the piece rate system.
b). Wastage- there was reduced level of wastage in production due to scientific selection and
training.
c). The school of thought advocated for harmonious coexistence between managers and workers.
d). It is also advocated for division of labor.
e). It puts emphasis on proper selection, training and promotion of employees.
f). It puts emphasis on better utilization of available organization resources.
g). Uniformity- It gave rise to standardization of tools working methods which leads to uniformity.
