In a non-polar covalent bond, the bonding electrons are shared evenly between the atoms.
In a polar covalent bond, the electrons are not evenly shared resulting in partial positive and partial negative sides.
In an ionic bond, there is electron transfer whereby one atom loses electrons to another atom forming full charges.
