1) Culture
Future conflicts will be based on cultural civilizations rather than on ideologies (Huntington 1993). These civilizations are fighting for religious hegemony and superiority hence escalating the magnitude of the warfare in the world. Huntington postulates that the west embrace Christian civilization, the East Islamic civilization while the remaining Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Zoroastrians are divided between western and eastern civilization and therefore takes liberal position. Such cultural theories are recipe to some of the major conflicts in the world today where superior weapons are being used and substantial loss of life and human rights abuses are common.

2. Resources
Resources in this category are natural resources which have been distributed by God to various regions e.g. oil, various types of minerals, climate, water among others.
a) oil
This is one single factor that is at the centre of nearly every conflict and cause of warfare in many regions of the world
In Nigeria’s Jos state oil has caused warfare between the Muslims and Christians to date.
In Sudan at Abyei, there is an unsolved conflict between the northern and the southern administration.
b) land
Land remains a major factor which owing to its scarcity has been the centre of majority of wars beginning with mans first civilization. Wars were fought in Greece, Rome (Ottoman Empire expanded due to warfare). Christian crusaders saw Christianity annexing territories during the reign of Alexandra the Great
Palestine and the state of Israel are in constant warfare because of unsolved boundaries. Palestinian liberation organization through the Arab league has continued waging guerrilla warfare across the Diaspora to achieve independence.

3. Religious Fundamentalism
This is associated with political terrorism. Some terrorists hide behind religion to achieve their political motives. These groups express their dissatisfaction through the act of terror attacks on vulnerable civilian targets. Alqaeda (Pakistan), the Janja weed (Sudan) Alshabab (Somalia) Mungikis of Kenya all have perfected their terrorist attacks claiming religious alienation in their warfare using weapons ranging from simple machetes to sophisticated bombs.
