Environmental education is the process of recognizing values and various conceptions of the environment with prime aim of determining the skills and approaches necessary for understanding the relationship between man, his culture and the biophysical (natural) environment (UNESCO, 1988). Environmental education has evolved over many years. Initially it involved the elderly people teaching the youth on how to interact with the environment. This informal education was passed over through storytelling, oral literature.
