Solid waste can be defined as useless, unwanted or hazardous materials resulting from human and animal activities that have less than 30% water content.

-Bio-degradable waste: Food, kitchen, green and paper waste.

-Recyclable material: Paper, glass, bottles, cans, metals and certain plastics.

-Inert waste: includes construction and demolition waste, dirt, rocks and debris.

-Domestic hazardous waste and toxic waste: include medication, e-waste, paints, chemicals, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, spray cans, fertilizers and pesticide containers, batteries and shoe polish.

-Composite waste: Includes waste clothing, tetra-packs, waste plastics such as toys.
