Illogical happenings are not easy to explain for they go against the expectations of the people. In Betrayal in the city, there are various incidents that defy reason.
The shooting of Adika during a students demonstrations,it is reported that only four bullets were fired.Interestingly Adika is found with four bullets wounds.

Kabito is reported to have died out of an accident caused by drunken driving, according to Mulili. Since the entertainment committee had a break of only one hour,it is inconceivable that Kabito drinks enough to make him cause an accident. This is made worse by Mulili's claim that Kabio 's breath was reeking of alcohol. This is not possible since the dead do not breath.

During the play rehearsal at the palace,Boss orders Mulili to get rid of Kabito after Mulili gives false accusations against him. This is in spite of his knowledge of Kabito as a good man.He does not bother to confirm allegations. It is illogical of him to order his execution without finding out whether Kabito had done what was alleged.

The notion of Boss relying on an uneducated Mulili as his right-hand is also illogical. Also his getting involved in the trivial matter of milk supply tender is a case in question.A head of state should have more important matters to concentrate on.

The matters raised in this essay are only possible in a society like the one that provides the setting of Betrayal in the City. These inconsistencies portray the government of Kafira as a fake one.
